Administration of the SSC is overseen by a Travel Team Committee. This committee is composed of a minimum of five members and managed by a Travel Program Coordinator and Assistant Travel Program Coordinator. The Travel Program Coordinator and Assistant Travel Program Coordinator are appointed by the Stoneham Soccer Club Board of Directors. The coordinators nominate members for the committee who then are approved by the Board of Directors. The Board tries to be sure that at least three members of the Travel Team Committee are also travel team coaches with at least two years experience coaching a travel team. One member of the committee is elected to oversee the Stoneham Soccer Club’s player and coach development programs. In addition, one member is expected to represent SSC at Middlesex Youth Soccer League (“MYSL”) meetings.
When approving members of the Travel Team Committee the coordinators and Board are careful to be sure members are:
1. Familiar with the level of Travel Team play;
2. Aware of the coaching and playing situations unique to this level;
3. Constantly interacting with coaches, coordinators, and directors from other towns and thus acquiring invaluable information regarding this particular level of play;
4. Among the more dedicated coaches;
5. Experienced in the area of individual skill development and game tactics;
6. Able to converse with certified, licensed, referees and able to communicate the subtleties of team play to the players.
The Travel Team Committee consists entirely of volunteers and is responsible for establishing and revising SSC policies where necessary.
